Twig & Stream’s fly fishing guides operate within 90 minutes of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Meet us on location or we can arrange transfers to and from the city centre.
Your fly fishing guide will take you on adventure tailored to your requirements; you can fish for wild brown and rainbow trout in a variety of waters: from pristine mountain streams to small meandering lowland rivers. Your guide has over 25 years continuous fly-fishing experience to draw upon, knows the local waters, and is a qualified casting instructor.
Guided fishing
You fish and the guide guides. For one or two persons (per guide). We can tailor a number of packages for guided on-stream fishing. Typically we base this in and around the Yarra Ranges near Melbourne. (within 90 mins). However multi day trips can be organised further a field. There are options ranging from small bush clad mountain streams, meandering lowland streams, or a tail water larger fishery. We tailor the day to suit your needs and preferences, and take into account local conditions on the day.
Accompanied Fishing/Tuition
For a more relaxed day, you can try accompanied fishing/tuition. This is a more economical option, and is ideal for those who do not wish to fish hard all day, and would like to learn through doing and observing.
Your guide shares some of their favourite water; your guide will encourage you to fish the best of the water, and will demonstrate how best to fish different stretches, making sure you get the most out of the day. We balance between fishing and tuition to suit your needs and preferences.
What to expect on your fly fishing day
All equipment provided: flies, rods, reels, waders, everything you need to fish.
Food: A packed lunch is included in full day experiences and morning or afternoon snacks are included in half day experiences.
Refreshments: The guide will have a refreshment for you, but feel free to bring your own too.
Duration: On a full day experience your guide will spend 7 hours with you. On a half day fishing experience, your guide will spend 4 hours with you. This includes breaks and any time spent travelling between locations.
Guide to Angler Ratio. To maximise your experience we ensure there are no more than 2 anglers per guide. If you have a group of more than 2 people contact us so we can arrange additional guides.
What to bring. A sense of fun and adventure. There are a few things to bring , but don’t worry we will send you a list of what to bring to make sure you enjoy your day.
